7:30 CST The Louisiana ARES HF net now meets on 3.890
8:30 The Tailgaters on 3.916 Everyone gets a turn here. No net control here. Who ever has the mic, calls out for any station to answer. Can also rag chew breifly. The replying station gets to make some brief comments then shouts for more call signs.
Every night of the week, excluding Saturday At 10:00 Central time: The Freewheelers get together on 3.916mhz (recommended): on this net, everyone gets to talk. How it works. There is an internet check in list that the net control calls from. You don't have to be on the internet check in list though. The list is divided into 2 groups. Short timers and full timers. When The net control reaches the end of the short time list, he'll ask for more check in's. Thats when you can throw out your call sign. Net control will pick up a few calls then call each for their comments.
You can make some comments about your day, what you've been up to, the weather..etc.
On 3.925 Starting nightly at 6:30pm Central time is the Gulf Coast Hurricane net. This net is called by state and city. If you are in the gulf coast area, wait till the Net control calls for any additional check ins from your state. Next time that Net control will call for you by name. Be advised there are different net controls so while you may be on one control's roster, you wont be on all of them unless you check in on each of their nets.

Sunday for the above nets, Cycle 1 is at 1:30 and cycle 2 is at 3:30
You can find the 7.290 traffic net on 7.290. Based in Texas they handle traffic for and from all over the country. I’m not sure about the times except you can find it in the morning at around 9:00am central time.

On 14.300 mornings prior to 10am central time you can find the intercontinental net.
After 10 am you can find the maritime mobile net. This net takes all check-ins, however they really exist to assist folks on the high seas. You never know when a ship might have a message for your area so tuning in never hurts.
14.650 in the event of emergencies you might find a SATERN (salvation army team emergency radio service) net. Also on 7.265 (40 meters) and 3.977.7 (80 meters).
There are many nets out there. Tune around the bands and find the nets that you like. Check in and have fun with this ham hobby.
